Business Finance

When nothing on this site quite fits

Most funding needs map onto one of the named facilities on this site. Some don't: the requirement is larger, spans several types of facility at once, or is genuinely unusual in its structure. There's no honest product page for that, because the answer depends entirely on the specifics. This page exists to say so plainly and point you toward a direct conversation instead.

Why this isn't a product page

A named facility describes a shape. Not every requirement has one.

Every other page on this site describes a specific, recognisable shape of facility: invoice finance, a credit line, a business credit card. That works because most funding needs really do fall into one of those shapes. Some don't. A business raising a genuinely large facility, combining working capital with an asset-backed element, or structuring something around a situation that doesn't map onto a standard product, is better served by a direct conversation than by a page pretending there's a standard answer.

What usually lands here

In our experience, this is where established businesses end up when the requirement is larger than a single standard facility comfortably covers, or when it genuinely combines more than one type (invoice finance alongside a term element, say, or a credit line structured with a bespoke security package). It's not a size threshold we can put a number on honestly. It's more that a standard product's assumptions stop holding.

In practice, businesses often assume "bespoke" means expensive or slow, and reach for a standard product that's a poor fit instead, just to avoid the conversation. A structure built around what the business actually needs usually costs less over time than forcing the need into a facility that doesn't quite match it, even if the process to arrange it takes a little longer up front.

Alternatives and limitations

If your need genuinely matches something already on this site (invoice finance, a credit line, R&D advance funding), that named page will serve you better than this one. A standard facility that fits is simpler and usually cheaper to arrange than a bespoke one built to do the same job. This page is specifically for what's left after that check comes back negative.

Talk it through

Need another perspective?

You may already know which facility you think fits. The more valuable question is whether it's actually the right structure for what's happening in the business. We'll review the situation before suggesting possible routes. It costs nothing to have that conversation.

What happens next

  1. A person on our team reads it. No need to know which facility you want first.
  2. If we can help, we introduce you to a specialist partner we have vetted and tell you who they are.
  3. No charge and no obligation at any point. You decide whether to go further.

Practical questions

Before you get in touch

How long does it take?

It varies by facility, so there isn't one number that fits every case. Some drawdowns against an existing facility complete within a day or two; arranging something new from scratch usually takes longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline once we understand your situation.

What information do I need?

To start, just a description of what’s actually happening in the business. If it progresses, the specialist partner will ask for the usual things: recent accounts, a sense of turnover and trading history, and details of the specific need.
