Reporting a correction
If a figure, date, source or verdict on this site looks wrong, email [email protected] with "Correction" in the subject. It helps to include:
- the page address, and the sentence, table row or dataset entry you mean;
- what you think it should say;
- the source that shows it, ideally a primary one such as gov.uk, legislation.gov.uk, HMRC, Companies House or a published tribunal decision.
What happens next follows the site's published process, not a promise made here. The claim is checked against the primary source. If it's wrong, the fix goes on the page it affects, and a material change to a dataset or tool (a figure, date, source or verdict) is added to the methodology changelog with the date it was made. If we can't source the claim, it's rewritten to say only what the source supports, or removed. So far the changelog holds 11 entries: 6 corrected, 3 fixed, 2 revised. The checks every page goes through are on editorial standards.
A correction is not a complaint. If you're unhappy with how we handled an enquiry, use the complaints process instead.
Correction contact versions
If the address or the process above ever changes, the new version is added here with the date, and the old one stays listed, so you can see what applied when you wrote in.
